Install Arctic Silver 5 On An Intel P4 Cpu

You can lower the temperature of your Pentium 4 processor by using Arctic Silver 5.

Arctic Silver 5 is a thermal paste designed to maximize the heat transfer between the processor and the heatsink. The Intel Pentium 4 processor creates a significant amount of heat when in use and needs to be cooled efficiently. Using Arctic Silver 5 can decrease the temperature of the processor several degrees.

Instructions

1. Turn your computer off and disconnect the power supply and all the cables on the back of the computer.

2. Remove the back screws and the left panel of the case.

3. Detach the heatsink from the motherboard by unscrewing it or by turning the black lathes counterclockwise. Unplug the fan from the motherboard.

4. Rotate the heatsink to separate it from the processor.

5. Open the socket and take the processor off.

6. Clean the heating and fan of any dust using a compressed air can.

7. Use rubbing alcohol to remove any residual thermal paste from the top of the processor and the bottom of the heatsink. Both surfaces should be mirror-like when cleaned.

8. Put the processor back in the socket and close it. Apply half a pea size of Arctic Sliver paste on the processor. Use a credit card or other plastic card to spread it evenly on the surface.

9. Put the heatsink back on top of the processor and secure it in place.

10. Connect the fan power cord to the motherboard.

11. Close the case and reconnect the cables.
