Identify The Motherboard In A Compaq Presario 7000

Identify the motherboard in a Compaq Presario 7000.

Compaq is a popular maker of desktop and laptop computers. The Compaq Presario 7000 is a home desktop computer released in 2001. If you've owned your Presario for a while, eventually you will need to update the BIOS to keep your PC running smoothly. In order to do this, you need to know what your motherboard model is or else you run the risk of damaging the motherboard. Opening the case and looking at the motherboard would give you the answer, but that will void the warranty. For a simpler method, use a third-party program to get this information.

Instructions

1. Download a program that can search your computer and get the motherboard information. Some options include Belarc, Sandra, Everest, HWInfo and Fresh Diagnose. For this example we will use Everest, which offers a free trial.

2. Click on the "Download" button to start the download, and save the file to your computer. You will need to agree to the end user license agreement and continue with the install.

3. Run the program and select "Motherboard" from the main menu screen. Click "Motherboard" again, and then look under "Motherboard Properties" to see the name and ID of the Presario motherboard.
