Improve Processor Speed
There are a variety of ways you can make your computer operate faster, including making sure that everything that's set up on your computer is adjusted for the optimal performance. Too often, there are programs and processes that tend to slow things down, making your computer slower than it should be. There are a number of things that you can do to make your processor speed increase.

1. First, turn off your computer.
2. Open your computer case (following the instructions that came with your computer) and blow out any dirt and debris using compressed air.
3. Put your computer case back on and turn on power.
4. Clear out any old programs that are still installed on your computer. The more programs and files that you have that have to be sorted through, the slower your processor is going to be. Open your Control Panel and go to the "Add/Remove Programs" icon. Click on it. This will open a list of every program that is currently installed on your computer. Go through each program name and determine whether or not you want to keep it on your system. If you want to remove it, simply click on the "Remove" button. You can determine whether or not you want to keep a program by looking at how often you use the program, as well as when you last accessed the program.
5. After you've removed every program that you no longer need, go into your Control Panel and click on the "System" icon. When you are in your System folder, click on the "Defragmenter" tool. Defragment your computer at this time. This process will take approximately 30 minutes to an hour, depending on how fragmented your files are.
6. Open up your Start menu and shut down any programs that are automatically loaded into your computer upon start-up. These programs will take a lot of processing speed and power away from your system, because they are operating in the background at all times.
7. Make sure that you're not slowing your processor down by giving it extra work visually. Go into your Control Panel, open up your "System Properties" and click on the "Advanced" tab. Then, click on the "Performance" tab. You'll see that you can either let Windows choose what's best for your computer, or adjust for best appearance, or adjust for best performance. Click on "Adjust for best performance."
