Flash Bios Ibm 8867

Your laptop's Basic Input/Output System, or BIOS, is a simple operating system embedded into your motherboard. It is powered by a small, black chip that is built into the motherboard. In very basic terms, it is software that allows you to control all hardware connected to the motherboard. As with the Windows operating system, Lenovo released BIOS updates for the ThinkCentre A51 computer a few times a year up until 2006. Upgrading, or flashing, your BIOS is one way to improve your hardware's functionality and repair issues with your motherboard.

Instructions

1. Power on your laptop and make sure the AC adapter is connected to your laptop. Navigate to the ThinkCentre A51 BIOS update page with your preferred Web browser. Locate the file named, "2fjy25usa.exe." This is the latest BIOS version for the ThinkCentre computer. Double-click on the file and select the destination folder or directory for the file. For easy access, save the file to your desktop and click on the "Save" button.

2. Locate and double-click on the BIOS update file. Click "Next," and quickly review the license agreement. Click on the check box next to "I accept the terms in the license agreement" and click the "Next" button. Make sure the file path for the BIOS update files is set to "C:\IBMTOOLS\FLASH\2FJY25US." Click "Next" and click "Finish" to begin extracting the files from the BIOS update folder.

3. Close all open applications. Click on "Start" and select "Run." Type "C:\IBMTOOLS\FLASH\2FJY25US\WINPHLASH.EXE." into the "Run" text box. Click "OK."

4. Select the "Backup BIOS and Flash BIOS with new settings" option. Click on "Flash BIOS," and your computer will automatically shut down and restart. After your computer restarts, the new BIOS settings will take effect.
