Networking is one of many functions PCI cards are built for.
PCI Ethernet Controllers are installed, uninstalled and reinstalled just like other Ethernet adapter and network interface controllers. Windows 7 has access to a very comprehensive library of software drivers for almost any device that can be installed in a computer, and is quite good at automatically installing newly detected hardware. Most of the work in reinstalling a PCI Ethernet Controller actually has to do with uninstalling it. Here's reinstall your PCI Ethernet Controller.
Instructions
1. Open the "Start" menu and click "Control Panel."
2. Click "System and Security," then click the "Device Manager" link under "System."
3. Click the arrow beside "Network Adapters" to display a list of the networking devices installed on your computer.
4. Right-click your PCI Ethernet Controller in the list and select "Uninstall" from the options menu that pops up.
5. Confirm the uninstall command by click "OK" in the pop-up window. Your PCI Ethernet Controller is now uninstalled.
6. Open the "Action" menu in the "Device Manager" window after uninstalling the PCI Ethernet Controller, and select "Scan for Hardware Changes." The computer then detects the controller and reinstalls it.
