Replace The Cooling Fans On A Sony Pcvrz44g

A case fan is one of many coolingsfans in a computer.

A computer has several cooling fans, including case fans, a CPU fan and the power supply fan. The case fans and some CPU fans can be removed individually. However, some CPU fans and the power supply fan are part of a larger component and cannot be separated. In those instances, the entire component must be replaced, not just the fan. The steps for replacing the cooling fans in the Sony PCV-RZ44G are the same as in every other desktop computer.

Instructions

Replacing the Case Fans

1. Unplug the computer and remove the side panel to access the inside of the computer.

2. Disconnect the wire from the motherboard, making note of where it is connected.

3. Unscrew the single exhaust fan from the back of the case.

4. Screw the new fan to the back of the computer case. Look for the arrow etched into the fan that indicates the airflow direction. The arrow (and the airflow) shouild point to the back of the case.

5. Connect the case fan to the motherboard.

Power Supply Fan Replacement

6. Disconnect the power supply from the motherboard and all the other components in the computer. Because the fan is one unit with the power supply, the entire unit must be replaced to change the fan.

7. Unscrew the power supply from the back of the computer case.

8. Remove the power supply by pulling it into the case, then pulling it out through the side of the computer.

9. Insert the new power supply unit into the computer. The side with the AC adapter should be facing the back of the computer.

10. Screw the new power supply into place and connect it to the motherboard and other components.

Replace the CPU Fan

11. Disconnect the fan/heatsink unit from the motherboard. If the fan and heatsink are separate units, disconnect the fan cable from the motherboard.

12. Unclip or unscrew the fan/heatsink unit from the motherboard. If the fan and heatsink are separate units, unclip the fan from the heatsink.

13. Clip or screw on the new fan/heatsink unit, then connect it to the motherboard. If the fan and heatsink are separate, make sure the etched arrow, which indicates airflow, is pointing away from the heatsink, then clip it to the heatsink. Connect the fan to the motherboard.

14. Close the side panel of the computer.
