Increase the 8600GT performance in games.
The GeForce 8600GT is the mid-ranged option of the Nvidia 8-series graphic card line. The 8600GT replaced the 7600GT and has extra features and a noticeable performance increase. Every Nvidia graphics card can be configured through the Nvidia Control Panel. The Nvidia Control Panel is installed with every Nvidia driver suite. If you need to make a game run faster, you can improve performance by lowering or turning off some of the graphic settings within the Control Panel.
Instructions
1. Right-click on your desktop, then select "Nvidia Control Panel."
2. Click "View" and then "Advanced." This displays all available options of the control panel.
3. Click "Manage 3D settings" on the left pane. This loads a list of all 3D settings in the right pane.
4. Change a setting for a feature by clicking in the "Setting" drop-down menu next to each "Feature" and then clicking the option. Turn the settings for "Ambient Occlusion" and all of the "Anisotropic" and "Antialiasing" features to "OFF."
5. Change the setting for "Texture Filtering Quality" to "High Performance." This changes the remaining performance related settings automatically for optimal performance.
6. Press the "Apply" button to save the changes.
